Competition Team

Brighton Ballet Theater is looking for talented, young, passionate dancers to join us in our second year of competing.

Competition dance is extremely valuable for young dancers as it helps them develop confidence, stage presence, teamwork, dedication, discipline, and it is a great way for children to continue building their love for dance.

This is an exciting opportunity for dancers to perform on stage, learn from professional artistic staff, and become part of an award-winning team that has received many regional recognitions.

If admitted to join the competition team, be prepared to:

Travel for competition weekends (New Jersey, Queens)
Commit to weekly rehearsals in addition to technique classes
Commit to other performances

Audition

Who Can Audition?

Boys and girls, ages 6-18, with dance experience are encouraged to audition.

Audition Workshop:

During the workshop, dancers will:

Strengthen dance technique, flexibility, and performance skills

Learn dynamic competition choreography

Improve artistry, musicality, and stage presence

Receive personalized coaching from Brighton Ballet Theater’s professional faculty

Gain valuable competition and performance experience

Prepare for competition team placement and upcoming events

Open Audition:

Thursday August 27 2026

(ages 6 - 8) Workshops for classical ballet and contemporary - 45 min each + 1 Hour Audition

10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

(ages 9 -12) Workshops for classical ballet, contemporary, and jazz - 45 min each + 1 Hour Audition

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

(ages 13+) Workshops for classical ballet, contemporary, and jazz - 45 min each + 1 Hour Audition

4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Logistics

What to Wear

Girls:

Black form-fitting top
Black form-fitting bottoms
All dance shoes (Ballet slippers, jazz shoes, turners, etc.)
Hair in a neat bun

Boys:

Black T-Shirt
Black tights or fitted dancewear
Ballet slippers

What to Expect

This audition includes:

Short Ballet class
Center work and across the floor in a variety of styles
Artistic evaluation
